Taxco Mexico
Taxco Mexico
Taxco is a town in Mexico well known for its fine silver and handiwork crafts. It’s recognised as an outstanding centre for silver work in the Western Hemisphere. In the 1930s a US resident revived the craft. If a piece of silver jewellery is marked Taxco Mexico, then it has been made in the region of Taxco. It will also be numbered and have initials which indicate the artisans last name and the number assigned to that artisan. Pieces are often set with turquoise or other semi precious gems. They are often unique and dramatic, yet timeless, hence highly collectible today.
